Chinese researchers discover 8 new plant species in Myanmar |
China news agency, Kunming, May 14 (Reporter Hu Yuanhang) - Reporter on the 14th from China Ke Xueyuan Research Center for Southeast Asian biodiversity was informed that the Center of Plant Diversity and Conservation Research Group found that eight new species of plants in the study of plant diversity in Myanmar , Including 7 new species of begonia and 1 new species of tofu chai.

Northern Myanmar is one of the global biodiversity research and protection hotspots, but the research foundation is relatively weak, especially the background data of plant diversity is scarce, and many taxa are urgently needed to conduct in-depth diversity investigation, cataloging and taxonomic research.
In recent years, China Ke Xueyuan Research Center for Biological Diversity in Southeast Asia to the northern part of Myanmar, focusing on the study area, through multiple field expedition, collected a large number of specimens and research materials.

The eight new plant species discovered this time include: Central Begonia, Bud Begonia, Big Bud Begonia, Gon Tofu Chai in Grape County of Kachin State, Victoria Begonia in Mount Victoria of Chin State, Wildlife Conservation of Barley Field in Sagaing Province The marsh begonias, sagaing begonias and qindun begonias in the district.
