human life begins with a fertilized egg, one of life's biggest challenges in how a fertilized egg develops into a complex organism with more than 200 cell types and 36 important organs. Recently, the Beijing Genomics Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in cooperation with a number of domestic scientific research institutions, has revealed for the first time the mystery of orderly gene expression and development and evolution of human embryos. The results of the study were published today in
    journals.
scientific studies show that almost all cells in the human body have a large number of gene expression. However, the time after human fertilization is very special for about two days, during which time the embryo has little gene expression. How to get people's genes to start expressing, which genes will be expressed first, which genes will be expressed later, has always been difficult to study. Liu Jiang's team at the Beijing Genomics Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has overcome the problem of lack of research materials, established a research method for trace cells, and studied the activation mechanism of human embryonic genome for the first time in the world. Scientists have found a key molecule (Oct4) that initiates the expression of the human genome, and found that in evolutionary history, the first genes (old genes) were expressed first, and the last genes that appeared later. The reason is that the cell-setting procedure allows the regulatory switch of the old gene to be turned on first.
, the study also reveals an important new mechanism for human evolution. Scientific studies have shown that mutations in DNA can lead to human evolution, and that DNA sequences contain fragments of DNA called transsebears, which often jump from one region to another, producing DNA mutations. In this study, scientists determined that the important reason for human evolution is that the transsegots that cause human evolution are mainly active in embryos, causing new mutations in the human genome, and only mutations produced in embryos are more likely to be transmitted to offspring, thus causing human evolution.
Liu Jiang's team at the Beijing Genomics Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has long been committed to embryonic development research, having previously published three consecutive articles in the journal Cells, revealing the inheritance of DNA methylation maps in mammals and fish, and updating the traditional understanding of reprogramming DNA methylation maps after fertilization. The research results of this study open the door to understanding the regulation of gene expression in human embryonic development, and make our country in the field of human development in the international leading position, this research results will provide a theoretical basis for human eugenics and eugenics.
