News Agency, Chongqing, January 10 (Reporter Ke Gaoyang) Vaccination is an effective measure to prevent the epidemic of infectious diseases, polysaccharose vaccine is one of the common types of vaccines. Chinese researchers have recently made new progress in the field of polysaccharide vaccine research and developed an oral polysaccharide vaccine for the prevention of Streptococcus pneumoniae infection. The research results have been published online in the international
Journal of the American Academy of Sciences.
, author of the paper and professor of animal medicine at Southwest University, said Streptococcus pneumoniae is one of the main causes of pneumonia and other conditions, with a high fatality rate. At present, it is commonly used to prevent Streptococcus pneumoniae infection is a multi-priced polysaccharide vaccine, but the production process of this kind of vaccine is more complex, the price is higher, the immune effect is not ideal.
In response to these problems, Kong Qingke led the research team on zoonotic infectious diseases found that the use of anti-venom salmonella as a carrier of multi-sugar vaccine delivery, can induce the host to produce specific polysaccharide mucosa, body fluid and cellular immune response and long-term immune memory. On this basis, the team developed an oral polysaccharide vaccine that can be used to prevent Streptococcus pneumoniae infection, which is more convenient and less costly than traditional intramuscular vaccines.
Roy Curtis believes that this study breaks through the current traditional bacterial polysaccharide vaccine construction, but also can be applied to other pathogen sources of polysaccharide vaccine, protein vaccine and other vaccine types, help to achieve rapid and efficient vaccine construction, improve the prevention of sudden infectious diseases.
