armored fish has long been considered a coastal environment near shore, while the new material for Chinese armored fish in Jiangxi's Sishui Pit Group indicates a low-salinity semi-salt water offshore environment that may have been reduced by the infusion of large amounts of fresh water from nearby rivers, and studies suggest that the ecological space of armored fish may have expanded into the continental basin about 430 million years ago.
The latest research results of this new material for Chinese armored fish have greatly enriched the morphological characteristics of the Chinese armored fish species, and based on the systematic development analysis of these new features, the long-standing classification of real armor fish systems has been clarified. Two papers on the results have recently been published in the journal PeerJ and the Journal of Paleontology, respectively.
