The accumulation of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is believed to play an important role in the pathophysiology of heart failure (HF) with a medium ejection fraction and normal range , but its influence on patient outcome is not yet clear
    .

    Heart failure

Recently, the heart blood vessels magazine field authority Circ-Heart published a research article on Fail, the researchers aimed to assess the prognostic value of cardiac magnetic resonance EAT volume measurements of ejection fraction moderate HF patients with HF and normal ejection fraction
    .

    Blood vessel

The researchers analyzed patients who participated in a prospective multicenter study to investigate the value of implantable loop recorders in HF with medium ejection fraction and HF with normal ejection fraction
    .

The EAT volume is quantified by cardiac magnetic resonance

The researchers analyzed 105 patients (mean age 72±8 years, 50% were women, and left ventricular ejection fraction average 53±8%)
    .

During a median follow-up of 24 (17-25) months, 31 patients (30%) died or were hospitalized due to HF

It can be seen that EAT accumulation is related to the poor prognosis of HF patients with medium ejection fraction and HF patients with normal ejection fraction
    .

This finding supports the importance of EAT in these HF patients

EAT accumulation is associated with poor prognosis in HF with moderate ejection fraction and HF with normal ejection fraction
