    Recently, Clariant and Casale have jointly developed AmoMax-Casale, an award-winning and sustainable new catalyst for ammonia synthesis

    Compared with previous catalyst products, AmoMax-Casale has higher activity, which can further improve ammonia production efficiency while reducing pollution

    With the perfect combination of Clariant's catalyst expertise and the design strength of Casale's ammonia synthesis tower, AmoMax-Casale catalyst has a larger active specific surface area, and the efficiency index is up to 30% higher than that of AmoMax
    .
    This remarkable performance upgrade helps the ammonia plant to significantly reduce energy consumption, resulting in a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions
    .
    The high activity of this catalyst significantly reduces the operating pressure in the ammonia synthesis loop
    .
    Compared to conventional magnet-based catalysts, AmoMax-Casale can further reduce the operating pressure of the loop by 10-20 bar, which means that the plant consumes less energy during ammonia production, thereby reducing CO2 emissions
    .
    Higher activity catalysts combined with the Kasali synthesiser internals design take performance to new heights

    This means that a conventional 1,600-tonne-per-day ammonia plant is expected to save nearly 2 million yuan ($300,000) in annual energy costs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 85,000 tons over an average catalyst life of 15 years
