    The current treatment plan relies on safe but expensive mesalazine and immunosuppressive therapies, but this may lead to an increased risk of body infections and hematological malignancies

    This study included a total of 17 UC patients in remission or mild disease activity from February 25, 2015 to September 11, 2018 for a parallel group crossover study
    .


    Participants were randomly assigned to 2 groups and received an LFD diet (10% of calories from fat) or iSAD diet (35%-40% of calories from fat) during the first 4 weeks, followed by a 2-week washout period.


     

    During the entire study period, all patients maintained UC in remission
    .


    Compared with baseline, both iSAD and LFD improved the quality of life of patients.
