Researchers searched the Embase and PubMed databases, included studies that summarized the incidence of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases of COVID-19, and compared the incidence of comorbidities in ICU/critical and non-ICU/critical patients.
A total of 6 studies were included in this meta-analysis, including 1527 patients.

In summary, the results of this meta-analysis show that patients with previous cardiovascular and metabolic diseases are at greater risk of contracting COVID-19 and are more likely to develop severe illnesses.
