From SeafoodSource July 9 news, Subway restaurants (Subway Restaurants) for its tuna products to defend, after it was sued, saying tuna provided is not true
    .

Subway said in a press release that Subway uses 100% wild-caught tuna
    .

Earlier, the New York Times reported that no tuna DNA was found in Subway’s tuna sandwiches
    .

Both Subway and a top-class cooked and processed tuna DNA testing laboratory stated that the DNA testing used by the laboratory in the New York Times report was inaccurate for canned and/or processed tuna
    .

LeeAnn Applewhite, the founder and president of Applied Food Technologies (AFT), a food DNA testing company in Alachua, Florida, confirmed that the type of DNA test used by the unidentified laboratory in the New York Times report could not detect tuna
    .

LeeAnn Applewhite said that AFT is the only laboratory in the United States capable of testing small processed tuna to determine whether it is real albacore tuna, bonito, or other tuna identified on the label
    .

In fact, AFT conducts tuna testing for large tuna suppliers such as Bumble Bee, Starkist and Chicken of the Sea, and has received more than $1 million in bonuses from the US government for research and development for the analysis of canned tuna species
    .

In a revised indictment filed earlier this month, the plaintiff turned the focus to Subway's proposition for sustainable development
    .
The company cannot ensure that 100% of its tuna is sustainably caught bonito and yellowfin tuna, and its tuna is not derived from healthy fish species, such as albacore tuna
    .

Subway said that after learning about the source of Subway tuna and the reliability of DNA testing, they turned their attention to sustainability issues
