    Covestro's world's first

    ISCC Plus quality balance certified

The commercial order for polyurethane raw material TDI has been signed!

A few days ago, Covestro signed the commercial order with Shengnuo Group, a world-renowned manufacturer and seller of polyurethane soft furnishing products headquartered in Hong Kong, aimed at helping downstream customers reduce their carbon footprint by providing more sustainable raw materials

On December 15, Marius Wirtz (left), Senior Vice President of the Asia-Pacific Region of Covestro's Functional Materials Division, and Lin Zhifan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shengnuo Group, signed an agreement in the Hong Kong office of Covestro on behalf of both parties.

Covestro and Shengnuo related colleagues also from the Shanghai office

Remote participation witnessed the signing ceremony

As Shengnuo continues to expand its business in the United States, Covestro and Shengnuo also agreed to upgrade their partnership from a regional partner to a global partner

The first batch based on mass balance methods,

TDI products containing part of the biomass raw material share

Will be delivered from Covestro’s Shanghai integrated base in the first quarter of next year

Applied to the mid-to-high-end product line of Shengnuo

Turn things into mattresses and pillows

Let low-carbon life no longer be out of reach

TDI (toluene diisocyanate) is the key raw material for the production of flexible polyurethane foams.

    The background knowledge is here

Mass balance is a chain of custody method that allows fossil raw materials and alternative raw materials to be mixed in production but separated in bookkeeping
    .
This method can track materials through the value chain and allocate alternative raw materials such as bio-based raw materials to selected end products
    .

Covestro’s Shanghai integrated site has previously obtained ISCC Plus quality balance certification, so it has the ability to supply mass balance certified TDI, polycarbonate, and MDI products to customers in the Asia-Pacific region, including some alternative raw materials
    .
These products have the same quality as fossil-based products, and can be used as direct alternatives to existing production processes without technical transformation
    .

Low-carbon development and economic growth are not contradictory

Covestro will continue to leverage its expertise in materials technology

Keep moving forward on the road of #full cycle
