Although some international guidelines recommend that COVID-19 patients should be intubated as soon as possible, there are still controversies.
COVID-19
Recently, a research article was published in Critical Care, an authoritative journal in the field of critical care medicine.
Researchers systematically searched the PubMed and Scopus databases to determine the mortality and/or morbidity of COVID-19 patients who reported early and late intubation, as of December 26, 2020.
The meta-analysis included a total of 12 studies involving 8944 patients with severe COVID-19.
It can be seen that the intubation time may have no effect on the mortality and morbidity of patients with severe COVID-19.
