Patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection have a higher risk of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP).
infection
The main purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between VAP and mortality in SARS-CoV-2 patients.
The researchers diagnosed VAP using clinical, radiological, and quantitative microbiological criteria , and used univariate and multivariate marginal Cox regression models (with specific cause risk for mechanical ventilation time and ICU stay time) to compare outcomes between study groups.

The relationship between VAP and ending
Among the 1576 enrolled patients, 568 were SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia patients, 482 were influenza pneumonia patients, and 526 had no evidence of viral infection when they were admitted to the ICU.
It can be seen that VAP is significantly correlated with the 28-day mortality increase of SARS-CoV-2 patients.
