Côte d'Ivoire plans to add 643 megawatts of electricity to its network by 2021, according to Reuters, which the government says is to meet domestic demand and increase electricity exports
to surrounding areas.
As West Africa's largest economy, most of the electricity generated by Côte d'Ivoire's 2,200 megawatts comes from oil and gas, with a goal of generating 4,000 megawatts
by 2020.
In a statement, the government said it would generate 643 MW by expanding the Azito Energie power station in Côte d'Ivoire and by increasing the capacity
of Ivorian power producer CIPREL.
The Azito Energie plant, which is said to have an expansion capacity of 253 MW worth 225.
