Daimler electric vehicles promise performance to crush Tesla

Traditional car giants are now rushing to launch their own electric vehicles

Mercedes-Benz, a car manufacturer owned by Daimler AG of Germany, has now pledged to show off a prototype
of its electric car at the Paris Motor Show in October.
Mercedes-Benz chief development officer Thomas Webb said the vehicle's structure was ready this week and the preliminary results of road tests were satisfactory

But to challenge Tesla, automaker Mercedes-Benz needs to make electric cars perform

Thomas Webb said the Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle prototype can run 310 miles (500 kilometers) on a single charge, easily crushing the 220-250 miles of Tesla Model X
SUVs.

At present, Mercedes-Benz has not announced more details about the electric car, including the launch date and price

But Thomas Webb said the final production model will be available within
a decade.
Thomas Webb also said the company expects to sell an average of 100,000 electric vehicles a year after the electric
vehicles are launched.
