Daimler, together with TheMobilityHouse, GETEC and Remondis, has launched a 13-megawatt battery storage device to give new life
to battery packs from electric and hybrid vehicles.
Daimler currently offers consumers of its electric vehicles a battery life guarantee of up to 10 years, but the company says the batteries still have a lot of potential
beyond that age.
Daimler expects that these batteries could be used for at least another 10 years if deployed in stationary energy storage systems, and the device can play a good role
in energy storage and peak regulation in wind power or solar power plants.
The battery storage unit will be connected to the grid in early 2016
