Among 25,183 women aged 50-79, there were 1,455 hospitalizations for heart failure with a median follow-up of 16.

Brisk walking for less than 1 hour per week reduces the risk of heart failure in the same way as average or leisure walking for more than 2 hours per week

"This study confirms other studies that have demonstrated the importance of walking speed on mortality and other cardiovascular outcomes," said senior author Charles B.
