Ruth Ann Marie, MD, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, and member of the American Neurological Society, said: "These results require further investigation to determine which factors may lead to shorter survival times
    .

" "Accepted by multiple sclerosis patients.

In this study, researchers looked at the health records of 338 multiple sclerosis and colorectal cancer patients living in Ontario and Manitoba, Canada
    .

Each person was paired with 4 colorectal cancer patients (1352) with the same age, sex, and year of cancer diagnosis

Studies have found that patients with multiple sclerosis are 45% more likely to die from any cause 6 months after cancer diagnosis than patients with non-multiple sclerosis, and are 34% more likely to die from any cause 1 year after diagnosis
    .

After this point, the risk of death was the same in both groups

Over the past five years, the mortality rate in Ontario is 16.
4 per 100 people who die every year.
People who die from any cause and 11.
5 women who die have no manpower and women to consider the number and time of research
    .

In Manitoba, the number of deaths per 100 person-years for multiple sclerosis patients is 19.

In Ontario, the mortality rate for multiple sclerosis patients is 12.
7 deaths per 100 person-years, while the mortality rate for non-multiple sclerosis patients is 9.
    9 deaths per 100 person-years
    .

In Manitoba, the death rates of multiple sclerosis patients and non-multiple sclerosis patients were 13.

Mary said: "Learning more about the factors associated with the treatment of cancer in patients with multiple sclerosis and their results will help patients with multiple sclerosis and their doctors balance the benefits and potential side effects of cancer treatment, and consider life expectancy and Quality of life
    .

    "

One limitation of this study is that the researchers may not have considered all other diseases except multiple sclerosis and colorectal cancer

This research was supported by the Multiple Sclerosis Association of Canada
