Dong Energy will build the UK's largest offshore wind operations centre

Dong Energy is planning to build an offshore wind operations and maintenance centre
in Grimsby on the east coast of England.

The centre is said to be the largest operations centre
in the UK.
The facility will be built
in conjunction with the existing Westermost Rough Wind Operations Centre at Royal Docks.

With planning permission, the center will initially support
the 210,000-kilowatt Westermost Rough wind farm, the 580,000-kilowatt Race Bank wind farm and the 1.
2 million-kilowatt Hornsea offshore wind farm one project.

The center will also support the
company's future development of wind farms on the East Coast.

Brent Cheshire, President of DONG Energy UK, said: "Grimsby's new Operations Centre will first and foremost be a game-changer for the offshore wind industry, taking offshore wind farms to the next level

The centre will be equipped with high-tech vessels
developed by Ostensjo Rederi and designed by Rolls-Royce.

The vessel will be able to accommodate 60 employees and technicians for long-term operations
at sea.

The first service operation vessel is expected to arrive by the end of 2017 and will provide O&M services for Dong Energy's Race Bank wind farm
.
Race Bank wind farms are under construction
in Norfolk and Lincolnshire.

In addition, the centre will include a maritime coordination centre that provides round-the-clock uninterrupted service
to offshore operations across the UK.
