Dutch Railways (NS) said that starting this month, the trains in operation will generate electricity
from wind power.
The head of broadcasting said
so in an interview with reporters.
It is reported that this is the first time that the train is running, and the electricity will be supplied entirely through wind power
.
NS is where all trains run on wind power, and the business tender began two years ago, with Eneco, a large local power company, in charge of the tender
.
By January 2018, the two companies will sign a 10-year agreement
for this purpose.
The head of Dutch railway broadcasting said it would take a year to reach the target
.
Across the country and on the Dutch coast, the increase
in wind power facilities will be supported.
According to the website jointly launched by the two companies, more than 600,000 passengers a day is the first train in the world to operate entirely on wind power
.
NS operates 5,500 trains
daily.
If a windmill generates electricity for 1 hour, a group of trains may travel 200 kilometers
.
By 2020, the companies say energy consumption per passenger will be reduced by 35 percent
compared to 2005.
