Original title: After retirement, eating more fish can be less sick
"Eating fish once or twice a week is good for your health" has become the consensus of nutrition experts in various countries. Retired people eating more fish can reduce illness by a third, according to a new study published in the British Medical Journal.
, a researcher at Tufts University in the United States, and his team followed 2,622 adult participants with an average age of 74 for 22 years. During the study period, 89% of the elderly people needed to go to the hospital from time to time because of illness, and only 11% of the elderly said that they were physically and mentally healthy and rarely went to the hospital. Further analysis of the participants' lifestyles found that older people who liked to eat deep-sea fat fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines had higher-than-average levels of miga 3 fatty acids in their blood, which made them about 24 percent less likely to develop diseases closely related to aging, such as Alzheimer's disease, heart disease and cancer, than their peers.
Lai's analysis points out that as the aging population accelerates, the number of elderly people is increasing and chronic diseases are increasing. The new study, focusing on "healthy aging", further confirms that after retirement, older people often eat fish, because omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids help regulate blood pressure, heart rate, control inflammation, not only to improve heart and brain health, but also to strengthen vision, high-quality happy and long life plays an important role.
