In a recent paper, scientists compared the drying of non-reactive materials (glass bead fillers) with the drying of fresh mortar.
the sample drying process, the available literature on the general basic physical processes of drying porous media allows for the identification of two different scenarios. These programs drive drying dynamics
the
. The researchers then measured the drying dynamics of the same materials containing polymers that do not adhere to cement particles.
addition of the polymer slows down the drying of cement
the results and analysis show that the increase of gap water viscosity caused by the addition of polymer is the reason for the decrease in the drying rate. Since the drying of fresh cement materials strongly affects the final performance of configurations with large exposed surfaces, they believe that the addition of this polymer can slow the overall drying of cement materials and improve their service life.
the study was published in Volume 116 of the Cement and Concrete Study, February 2019, pp. 38-44.
