On December 1st, GB 18581-2020 "Limits of Harmful Substances in Wood Coatings" was officially implemented, and this program is based on the test requirements for water-based wood coatings in the new GB 18581 standard The VOC content in water-based wood coatings was measured by reference to GB/T 23986-2009 "Measure of the content of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in color paint and varnish".
1, standard according to
GB 18581-2020 "Limits of Hazardous Substances in Wood Coatings"
GB/T 23986-2009 "Measures of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) Content of Color Paint and Varnish"
2, main instrument configuration
a. Gas chromatography: GC128, sifier/non-diversion inflow, FID detector;
b. Chromatography column: VF-624, 60m×0.25mm×1.4m;
c. mass balance;
d. ultrasound;
e. Centrifuges (speeds up to 10000r/min);
f. 21 VOC mixed specimens in acetylene, 2000 sg/mL;
g. Diluted solvents: acetylene, chromatography purity;
h. internal label: positive propylene alcohol, chromatography purity;
i. Markers: hexyl glycerides, chromatography.
3, experimental method
3.1 experimental process
3.2 standard sample configuration
internal standard reserve liquid: accurately called positive propylene alcohol 0.1g in a 10mL capacity bottle, with acetylene fixed to the scale, this is 10 mg / mL internal standard reserve liquid .
standard use liquid: take the inner standard reserve liquid 1mL in the 10mL capacity bottle, with acetylene to the scale, this is 1000 mg / mL inner standard use liquid.
VOC standard series preparation:
3.3 sample configuration
qualitative analysis: said to take about 1g sample (accurate to 0.1mg), add 2mL acetylene mixing, ultrasonic 5min centrifugation 5 Min, take the upper liquid sample for qualitative, no positive propylene alcohol in the specimen, the internal label selection is positive propylene alcohol, the test sample in the ethylene glycol monoclode and dipropanol monoclode content is higher, further increasing the thinner volume and the internal label addition.
quantitative analysis: accurately named 1g sample (accurate to 0.1mg), add 5mL acetylene mixing, add 3000 μg internal marker, 1000 μg marker, ultrasonic 5min centrifugation 5min, take upper layer liquid, for quantitative.
4, experimental spectral
4.1 water-based coatings in 21 VOC sample chromatography
1. 21 kinds of mixed VOC samples and marker chromatography

9.dimethyl ethanolamine 10.ethylene glycol 11. 1,2-propylene glycol 12.butyl acetate 13.methyl isoprene 14.ethylene glycol monoclode
15.propylene glycol orthyl ether 16.dipropanol monomethyl ether 17.diethylene glycol 18. N-methyl pyridoxine 19.diethylene glycol butyl ether
20.dipropanol ordin ether 21.ethylene glycol phenyl ether 22.propylene glycol phenyl ether 23.hexyldiethylene (marker)
4 .2 In the water-based coating, 21 kinds of VOC internal marker curve
to 21 kinds of VOC to carry out 5 concentration points of the internal marker curve survey, x - the amount of the measured part of the substance / the amount of the inner object material, y - the measured part of the peak area / the area of the inner marker peak. Results as table 1: Table
1 in each part of the standard work curve
4.3 determination of the VOC content in the actual sample
select a brand of water-based wood paint for commercial sale, according to the 3.2 method of processing, sample parallel configuration of two copies, sample chromatography as shown in Figure 2:
Figure 2. The actual sample chromatography VOC content calculation formula refers to the national standard GB/T 23986-2009 in 10.4, the test results can be found in Table 2: table 2
