Researchers from Voronezh State University and Voronezh State Medical University in Russia added hydroxyapatite extracted from eggshells to artificial polymer materials to develop a new type of adhesive whose chemical composition and structure are very similar to those of real teeth.
Can be used for dental bonding
.
Related research results were published in the "International Journal of Molecular Science"
In order to test the validity of the research results, the researchers put the restoration on the real tooth, some of the restoration was fixed with new adhesive, and the other part was glued with commercial dental glue
.
After that, experts cut thin slices on the teeth and studied their structure with infrared radiation
Pavel Serekin, director of the Department of Solid State Physics and Nanostructure Teaching and Research at Voronezh State University and PhD in Physics and Mathematics, said that through this method, it is possible to select adhesives with properties and chemical compositions that are very close to the teeth of a particular patient
.
In the future, the researchers plan to build not only one layer, but the entire organization, in order to maximize the replacement of damaged parts with materials similar to natural teeth
