Recently, ENGIE has signed an agreement with the Gabonese financial institution CDC to deploy 8 hybrid solar power plants with a total capacity of 2.
2MW
in Gabon.
Under the agreement, solar energy will be supplied
where electricity is currently drawn from oil-fired thermal power stations.
The project is expected to save Gabon 1 million liters of oil per year while reducing the cost of electricity generation by 30%.
The hybrid solution was developed
by Ausar Energy, a subsidiary of ENGIE, in collaboration with the CDC, the Gabonese Ministry of Energy and the Gabonese energy and water processing company SEEG.
Ausar Energy's hybrid project capacities range
from 50kW to 2.
5MW.
It is understood that the construction of the Gabonese project will begin
in a few weeks.
ENGIE is no stranger
to off-grid and small-scale renewable energy solutions in Africa.
Recently, ENGIE invested in a microgrid developer
that is expanding its operations in Asia and Africa.
