Eni plans to build a third biorefinery in Italy

Italian energy group Eni said it was studying the possibility
of building a bio-refinery at its industrial site in Livorno, central Italy, according to oil and gas news on October 18.

The feasibility study involves the construction of three new plants for the production of hydrogenated biofuels, including a biofeedstock pretreatment unit, an "eco-purification" plant dedicated to converting biofeedstocks into biofuels, and a plant
for the production of hydrogen from methane gas.

Eni said the design of the three plants will be completed in 2023 and construction could begin
in 2025.
The biorefinery will occupy the industrial site
of the current fuel and lubricant production facility, the company added.

Eni said in a statement that the project will maximize the synergies of existing infrastructure and ensure the site's future status
as a center for employment and production.

Eni Group produces 1.
1 million tons of biofuel per year and plans to increase to 2 million tons by 2025 and 6 million tons
in the next decade.

The company's other two biorefineries in Italy are located in Venice and the towns of
Sicily, Gera.
