In September 2022, Environmental Science & Technology, an international top international journal in the field of the environment, published online the title "Mutagenic Characteristics of Six Heavy Metals in Escherichia coli: The" by Professor Wang Hui and the Bagan Research Center for Public Health and the Center for Single Cell Omics and Disease Research of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine Commonality and Specificity" paper
Long-term exposure to heavy metals can induce genetic mutations in environmental microorganisms, as well as changes in the diversity and adaptation of organisms, and the long-term persistence of these factors will collectively cause changes
The study also compared the similarities between the mutagenic signatures of heavy metals and the characteristics of human cancer mutation profiles, revealing mutation patterns and commonalities
The work was funded by the National Key R&D Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and supported by the Single Cell Omics and Disease Research Center Platform
