Recently, Colombian utility EPM said that it has installed the country's first floating solar power plant project
.
The pilot project will test the technology and its rationale
compared to ground mounting and roof systems.
To this end, conventional solar panels will be installed on
the roof of the central camp of Guatapé under the same irradiation conditions.
EPM's Managing Director said, "With this pilot project, we are trying to verify whether the floating system of solar panels has an energy performance of more than 10% or 15%
compared to conventional systems on land or rooftop.

The pilot solar park, with 368 panels, is located near the collection tower so as not to interfere with the dam as a tourist attraction
.
Two 50kW modules have been built at the plant and are expected to generate about 145MWh of electricity
per year.
Back last September, Innova Capital Partners and French floating PV specialist Ciel & Terre (C&T) also agreed to jointly develop floating solar plants
in Colombia.
C&T has completed Brazil's first floating solar project
