Waller’s degeneration (WD) is a very common phenomenon after nerve injury.

In this study, 35 patients with tSCI were enrolled.

Figure WD distribution and MEP and SEP scores observed between different AIS grades.

Table shows the ASIA category, MEP and SEP scores with or without WD.

Most patients with cervical spinal cord injury can observe WD on the T2-weighted sequence, so it should be regarded as a direct effect of trauma.
