CV generally has a good prognosis if diagnosed and treated in a timely manner .

At this stage , black blood MR technology has been widely used for imaging of the heart, deep veins and intracranial arteries
Recently, a study published in the journal European Radiology evaluated the diagnostic value of BTI in patients with suspected CVT based on 5 years of actual clinical experience , and provided support for the early diagnosis and treatment of such patients .
This study evaluated patients with suspected CVT between 2014 and 2019 .
Patients with or without BTI scans were divided into groups A and B, respectively .
The rate of correct diagnosis of CVT and the age of evaluable clot in patients were compared .
The diagnostic performance of BTI was further analyzed, including sensitivity, specificity, and stage-specific information .
In the current study, 221 of 308 patients with suspected CVT were eligible (114 in arm A and 97 in arm B), of whom 125 were diagnosed with CVT by the multidisciplinary team (56 in arm A and 69 in arm B) )
.
After adding BTI images, the correct diagnosis rate of CVT in group A was higher than that in group B (94.
7% vs 60.
8%, P < 0.

Figure Example of a thrombus at different stages on a BTI .
Axial BTI image shows that isointensity indicates acute thrombus in the right transverse sinus (red dashed line in A), hyperintensity indicates subacute thrombus in the right transverse sinus (red dashed line in B), and isointense and blood flow voids (white arrows) indicate There is a chronic thrombus in the right transverse sinus (red dotted line in C) .

The results of this study provide strong data support for the application of BTI in clinical practice by summarizing 5 years of actual clinical experience .
In actual clinical practice, BTI improves diagnostic accuracy and provides additional information on thrombus staging, suggesting that this technique may serve as a promising imaging tool for rapid and accurate diagnosis of CVT .
