    Even desalination film cleans more water

    nature has found a way to make better membranes., desalinated films have not been suitable for large quantities of industrial work, such as the manufacture of fresh water for drinking, irrigation of crops, irrigation of livestock or the manufacture of energy.     researchers have found that nanoscales with uniform membrane densities of up to one billionth of a meter are critical to maximizing reverse osmosis and the performance of water filtration membranes. Using a transmission electron microscope to measure four different polymer membranes used for desalination, the researchers predicted 3D models of water passing through these membranes to compare in detail why some membranes perform better than others.
    results show that the secret is to reduce unevenness.
    simulation image shows that the red part of the membrane shows water at higher pressure and higher concentrations of salt, with a gold, granular, spongy structure in the middle, dense and non-dense areas within the salt-blocking membrane, silver ditches showing how water flows through, and the blue section at the bottom showing water with lower pressure and lower salt concentration.
    you can see a huge change in the flow characteristics of the 3D membrane. The researchers say the most indicating thing is the silver line that shows water moving around dense points in the membrane.
    experts say this is the first time such detailed 3D measurements have been made that the key to a better desalination film is to figure out how to measure and control the density of the manufactured film on a very small scale. Scientists need to make the entire film dense, which facilitates the flow of water without sacrificing salt removal.
