The Asian Development Bank is providing China Everbright International Limited (CEIL) with $100 million for a series of waste-to-energy projects
in Vietnam.
Everbright International received a US$100 million loan to build a waste-to-energy project in Vietnam
According to the signed loan agreement, the financing will support the construction and operation
of some municipally-supported waste-to-energy plants in Vietnam.
These power generation facilities will use advanced clean technologies to process municipal solid waste and supply electricity
to the local grid.
According to the Asian Development Bank, conversion to energy is an effective way for Vietnam to manage the growing amount of municipal solid waste, while reducing methane emissions and increasing the generation
of renewable energy.
This will be Vietnam's first municipal waste-to-energy public-private partnership project
