It is understood that so far, the earliest evidence of modern people's use of symbolic resources (such as ocher paint, non-food shells, and decorative artifacts) comes from various African coastal sites from 125,000 to 70,000 years ago.
The corresponding author of the paper, Jayne Wilkins of Griffith University in Australia and his colleagues, recently discovered archaeological data about 105,000 years ago in the northern rock shed remains of the Gamohana Mountains in the southern part of the Kalahari Desert.
The author of the paper stated that although previous studies of ancient Kalahari desert sites have shown that early humans existed here, there has been no research and reported evidence of time-determinable complex human behavior, including the collection of non-practical objects and the use of containers.
