ExxonMobil announced on March 1 that it plans to build a blue hydrogen plant at its Baytown, Texas, refining complex, along with one of the world's largest carbon capture and storage projects

The company said assessment and planning for the Baytown project are ongoing and a final investment decision is expected within two to three years

Using hydrogen as a fuel at the Baytown Olefins plant can reduce the complex's Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon dioxide emissions by 30 percent, supporting ExxonMobil's goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from its operating assets by 2050
