Scientists from Tokyo Medical and Dental University and other institutions have found that an infection of periodontogenic bacteria, the gum monocytobacteria, may promote abnormal skeletal metabolism by altering the composition of the body's gut microbiome, which may be a precursor to metabolic syndrome.
