Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology published a research paper entitled Cardio-protective role of SIRT5 in response to acute ischemia through a novel liver-cardiac crosstalk mechanism, which was completed by the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Memorial Hospital affiliated to Tsinghua University

Protein acylation is a large class of protein post-translational modifications that mainly occur on lysine residues, using metabolic intermediates (acetyl-CoA, malonyl-CoA, succinyl-CoA, etc.

The study found that the expression level of SIRT5 in the myocardial tissue of the mice did not change after the acute myocardial infarction model surgery, but the level of SIRT5 in the liver tissue was significantly increased

It has been reported in the literature that FGF21 can protect the heart in acute myocardial infarction through liver-heart interaction, but the mechanism is unknown
