Rice stripe virus (RSV) is a kind of arbovirus, which is mainly transmitted by the vector insect Laodelphax striatellus in a long-lasting and multiplying manner, resulting in a severe reduction in rice production in Southeast Asia
On March 6, 2021, Cui Feng's research group published a research paper entitled "The nucleocapsid protein of rice stripe virus in cell nuclei of vector insect regulates viral replication" online in Protein & Cell magazine
Although the entry of the virus into the nucleus has an impact on the replication of the virus, the previous work did not detect the impact on the spread of the virus after interfering with the importin α family
The above two studies were funded by the National Key Research and Development Program (2019YFC1200504, 2017YFD0200400), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (32090012) and other projects

Importin α family mediates RSV into the nucleus to trigger an antiviral response and help RSV infect salivary gland cells
