(4) Preparation of polymer microporous membrane by thermally induced phase separation (TIPS)
①Overview
In the early 1980s, the Castro patent proposed a relatively new method for preparing microporous membranes, namely thermally induced phase separation (thermally induced phase separation), or TIPS for short, which was reported in subsequent US patents and some research papers.
Domestic Pan Bo once commented on the significance, principle, process and research status of the preparation of microporous membranes by the polymer/diluent system TIPS process
②The steps of TIPS to prepare microporous membrane
The preparation of microporous membrane by TIPS method mainly includes solution preparation (continuous or intermittent preparation), membrane casting and post-treatment.
A typical TIPS preparation process of polymer microporous flat membrane is shown in Figure 10-11
Figure 10-11 The process of preparing polymer microporous flat membrane by TIPS
The current progress in TIPS experiments is to explore the effect of the diluent volatilization stage between extrusion and annealing on the film structure.

(5) Composite film making process
The membrane made by the LS method only has a very thin layer in contact with the air, which is called the dense surface layer
