What will be the next generation of CdTe components? The answer is – larger pieces of CdTe components
.
First Solar, the leading CdTe industry in the United States, is about to launch a new series of products Series6, which has a larger panel area, 400W output power, and a lower
price.
First Solar recently held the AnnualAnalystDay event and launched this 400W next-generation thin-film module
.
First Solar said the module has a conversion efficiency of up to 19 percent, and the production equipment required for the production line is under development
.
It will take about a year to supply the production tools required for the next generation of Series6 CdTe modules, and it will take about 18 months to set up and build the new production equipment, so mass production will start around
the second half of 2019.
However, First Solar did not disclose the timetable
for the actual market.
With Series6's large-area, high-wattage components, First Solar expects equipment costs to be further reduced
.
Currently, First Solar modules cost around
$0.
65 per watt.
In addition, the new large-area modules will also bring higher power generation efficiency
