In order for the polymer coating to repair itself, microcapsules have been developed. Microcapsules are prepared by physical assembly of graphene oxide sheets.
self-healing microcapsules are filled with gel-like chemicals that repair damage and restore the original function of the material
the
. Graphene oxide (GO) is used as a stabilizer for Pickering emulsions, and the microcapsule shell is then self-assembled based on GO at the oil/water interface. Wrap flaxseed oil in microcapsules as a healing agent.
Pickering Emulsion Stabilization
studied several important factors that affect the stability of Pickering emulsions and overall microcapsules formation, such as the pH of GO aqueous solutions, the GO/flaxseed oil mass ratio and the effects of surfactants. Chemical stitching of GO sheets is carried out by polyether amine molecules to enhance the chemical stability of microcapsules. The water-based polyurethane (PU) composite coating containing 10wt% microcapsules independently repairs scratches with a width of 20 m. After healing, the impedance mod of the composite coating is four orders of magnitude higher than the pure PU.
