    It is understood that on August 25, 2021, SFA officials discovered illegal processing of cockles at a site in the Woodlands Loop
    .
    The site has also been illegally used as a cold storage for meat and seafood products
    .
    The Singapore Food Authority seized 1,040 kilograms of illegally processed cockles and 6,160 kilograms of seafood and meat products
    .
     
    SFA has issued instructions to suspend the processing, sale and distribution of cockles, seafood and meat products from the operator
    .
    The authorities will also take enforcement actions against unlicensed operators of illegal food processing and illegal storage of meat and seafood products
    .
     
      The Food Authority of Singapore stated that processing and storing meat and seafood in unlicensed premises will bring food safety risks.
    All food production facilities must be licensed and meet the requirements of the Food Authority and food safety standards
    .
    Offenders who conduct seafood processing or store meat and seafood in unlicensed premises are liable to a fine of up to US$10,000, or up to three months’ imprisonment, or both
