A consortium of four Dutch companies said on Monday it had signed a 10-year contract to buy 330 GWh of electricity
a year from a wind farm in Finland.

The four companies include Heineken, Philips, chemical maker Nouryon and lighting maker Signify
    .

The consortium said the energy will come from a wind farm in the Finnish city of Mutkalampi, consisting of 35 turbines, which will be completed
    in 2023.

The contract covers an expected output of 330 GWh per year, equivalent to the electricity
    consumption of 40,000 households.

The signing of this contract means that more than 230,000 tonnes of carbon emissions
per year will be avoided compared to the average electricity generation in Europe.

The wind farm is being built
by Neoen, an independent German producer of renewable energy.
The electricity generated from the wind farms is integrated into the Finnish grid, where companies then receive clean electricity
    through factories in Europe.
