Four simple ways to identify irradiated cross-linked low-smoke halogen-free flame-retardant wires and cables:

    1.
    Product name identification method

Wire--irradiated cross-linked low-smoke halogen-free flame-retardant polyethylene insulated wire and cable; Cable--irradiation cross-linked LSZH flame retardant polyethylene insulated LSZH flame retardant polyethylene sheathed power cable
    .
Imitation products generally have a little different name, such as irradiation cross-linked polyethylene insulation, LSZH sheathed flame retardant power cable and so on
    .

    2.
    Skin burning method

Scalding the insulation layer with an electric soldering iron should not have obvious depression, if there is a large depression, it indicates that the material or process used in the insulation layer is defective
    .
Or grill with a lighter, under normal circumstances, it should not be easy to ignite, the insulation layer of the cable is still relatively complete after long-term burning, there is no smoke and pungent odor, and the diameter has increased
    .
If it ignites easily, it can be determined that the insulation of the cable is not made of LSZH (most likely polyethylene or cross-linked polyethylene).

If there is a large amount of smoke, the insulation is made of halogen-containing materials
    .
If after long-term combustion, the insulation surface falls off seriously and the diameter does not increase significantly, it means that no suitable irradiation crosslinking process has been carried
    out.

    3.
    Hot water immersion method

Soak the wire core or cable in hot water at 90°C, and the insulation resistance will not drop rapidly and remain above
    0.
    1MΩ/km under normal circumstances.
If the insulation resistance drops rapidly or even falls below 0.
009MΩ/km, it means that it has not been treated
by a suitable irradiation crosslinking process.
(Polyethylene or cross-linked polyethylene insulation materials are not suitable for this method of identification, and can be identified by the method of Article 2 above).

    4.
    Density comparison method

LSZH material density is greater than water, can peel off a little insulation layer into water, if floating above the water surface, it is certainly not LSZH material
    .

Irradiation cross-linked low-smoke halogen-free flame retardant wire and cable has been widely recognized by the majority of electricians and electrical practitioners with its excellent comprehensive electrical and physical properties, and has been applied in a series of national large-scale landmark buildings such as the main project of the Beijing Olympic Games and the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, showing good market prospects
    .
However, what is worrying is that in recent years, some imitation or even counterfeit products have been found, which seriously threatens the engineering quality and engineering image
    of key construction projects.
The cable network hereby collects the above four simple methods for identifying irradiation, cross-linked, low-smoke halogen-free flame retardant wires and cables from the network for the reference
    of relevant people.
