The French government has raised its offshore wind procurement target to a maximum of 8.
75 GW from the previous 4.
    7 GW-5.
2 GW and plans to bring that capacity online
    by 2028.

France's final energy roadmap, known as the Programmation pluriannuelle de l'energye (PPE), was released last week as a target capacity
    for the increase.

    The plan envisages installing 2.
4 GW of wind capacity and commissioning in a targeted manner by 2023, while 5.
    2 GW to 6.
2 GW of wind farms are scheduled to be operational
    by 2028.

The tender will begin this year with a 1,000 MW tender in Manchester North, while another batch of 500 MW to 1,000 MW tender will be held
in the South Atlantic region in 2021-2022.
Additional tenders are also planned for 2023 for as-yet-undetermined sites, with a target of 1,000 MW
    .

In addition, three rounds of 250 MW offshore floating wind power generation
will be held in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Of these, 250 MW will be tendered in Brittany next year, followed by two more 250 MW zones
    in the Mediterranean.

According to official documents, France will tender 1,000 megawatts of offshore wind energy per year between 2024 and 2028, including fixed and floating projects
    .

The country's ultimate goal is to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent from 1990 levels by 2030 and increase the share of renewable energy in its total final energy consumption to 33 percent
    .
