, published February 16 in the academic journal Radiology, shows that some patients infected with severe neo-coronary pneumonia have significant eye lesions that can later cause vision problems.
a new study published in Radiology suggests that severe symptoms of neo-coronary pneumonia can damage a patient's eyes, according to the North American Radiological Society (RSNA) website. After reviewing MRI images of 129 new coronary patients, French experts found that nine of them had multiple abnormalities in their eyes, including, and not limited to, possible blood vessel damage or obstruction, small bleeding in the eyes or ruptured nerve fibers. Eight of the other nine had real eye injuries.
coronary pneumonia can damage many organs, damage the human system and trigger chronic diseases. From this point of view, the eyes are no exception. But the study notes that this eye abnormality is generally not detectable during routine treatment and can later lead to severe vision problems.
, M.D., lead author of the study, said the findings suggest that all new coronary patients should be screened. In addition to magnetic resonance imaging, under-eye examination and optically co-relevant fault scanning (non-invasive detection for 3D images of eye structures) can be performed.
research is still ongoing. French experts are continuing to examine patients for possible harm from eye abnormalities. In addition, the researchers plan to have eye examinations on people with mild to medium-term neo-coronary pneumonia.
