Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease in which regulatory T cells (T reg ) play a protective role in many inflammatory and autoimmune diseases including SLE

In the present study, we further investigated the molecular and cellular phenotypes of pCon-induced CD4 + and CD8 +T reg

We found that pCons significantly increased the percentage of CD8 + FoxP3 + T cells and further increased the mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) of FoxP3, healthy peripheral blood mononuclear cells (pmcs) treated with pCons (10mg/ml, 24-48 hours)

These data suggest that pCons stimulate cellular, immune, and molecular changes in regulatory T cells that protect against SLE autoimmunity
