Gansu: Poor hearing-impaired children should be treated with quality and efficiency

Guo Yufen said that due to the lack of pediatricians, lack of primary quality medical resources, weak service capacity, high incidence of birth defects and other problems, at the same time, by marriage customs, behavior habits and other factors, the province's incidence of congenital deafness is higher than the national average, coupled with expensive treatment costs, many families can not afford to pay for treatment, resulting in some hearing-impaired children can not be treated in a timely manner, and eventually become deaf, to the individual, family and even society caused a heavy burden. Therefore, the implementation of the poor hearing-impaired children treatment project is to prevent birth defects, improve the quality of the population of the realistic needs, is to promote healthy poverty alleviation projects and build a well-off society in an all-round way an important measure.
Guo Yufen called for further raising awareness of the importance of treatment projects for children with hearing impairments in poverty, combining project implementation with key efforts such as deepening medical reform and health poverty alleviation, clarifying priorities, and accelerating quality improvement and efficiency on the basis of the establishment of mechanisms, starting with improving grass-roots hearing screening, diagnosis and treatment.
