In recent years, researchers from the Comprehensive Conservation Center of Banna Botanical Garden have been devoted to the study of Artemisia genus.

1 ) Species definition and clarification of interspecies relationships in the Artemisia vulgaris complex

The separate phylogenetic analysis of different datasets showed that the phylogenetic topology obtained from the ribosomal ITS dataset and the combined data of plastid gene segments was not completely consistent ( Fig.

In order to further analyze the reasons for the inconsistency of topological structures, the research team performed genetic distance estimation, network evolution analysis, and topological structure conflict tests for different datasets

2 ) Evolution and genesis of species diversity in the Artemisia vulgaris complex

The results of estimating the ancestral differentiation time of the Artemisia annua complex based on the supermatrix data set ( Fig.

Based on the existing evidence, the research team speculates that the ancestors of the Artemisia annua complex may have strong adaptability in alpine meadows.

Artemisia is one of the representative genera of species diversification in the Himalaya - Hengduan Mountains region.
