Recently, the two major gas transmission system operators in Germany, Gascade and Ontras, issued a joint statement stating that the two companies plan to start a dedicated hydrogen center in eastern Germany in 2026
.

The initial network will include 475 kilometers of pipelines connecting production and sales sites in the states of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Berlin

The statement said: "Gascade and Ontras plan to build a strong platform for the hydrogen industry in eastern Germany.
