Supermarkets typically destroy out-of-date food as garbage, but The Good Food, a German supermarket that opened earlier this month, does the opposite, selling out-of-date food and deciding how much customers are willing to pay, Hong Kong's Wen Report reported.
, Germany's first supermarket to specialize in futures products, "good food" not only reduces food waste, but also wants to bring social effects and make the public think about "sustainable lifestyles".
a third of the world's food produced each year is discarded, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, and a quarter of that is enough to make 900 million people fruity. These startling figures prompted Krasky to be determined to start a "good food."
"good food" will sell poorly sold food that has passed its shelf life. Mr Krasky says shelf life is just advice from merchants to consumers, and most foods can be eaten with confidence even if they expire.

stressed that supermarket staff will remind customers which foods are out of date, if customers do not feel well after eating, the supermarket will be responsible. Some customers of Good Food agree that people can tell if food is bad by color, appearance and smell.
Krasky believes that the current social trend is to reduce consumption and think about how to consume, "good food" is part of this trend, the furniture and facilities are second-hand goods and recycled materials manufactured.Turne, author of the
German documentary Taste the Waste, on food waste, argues that "good food" is a good idea, but community-based spontaneous action such as recycled food and "neighborhood sharing" alone is not enough to solve the problem, and that waste food must be effectively reduced through government legislation and changes in business practices.
