Global low-carbon hydrogen pipeline project capacity hits record high

On February 22, the analysis agency GlobalData announced that due to the feasibility stage of a large number of new hydrogen pipeline projects around the world, the production capacity of global low-carbon hydrogen projects has reached 42 million tons per year

According to GlobalData, more than two-thirds of the 42 million tons/year of new capacity will come from the CIS, Europe and Oceania, with 87% and 12% coming from green hydrogen and blue hydrogen projects, respectively, and less than 0.

GlobalData energy transition analyst Barbara Monterrubio said hydrogen is increasingly popular as a low- or zero-carbon energy source in demand areas such as energy storage, buildings and transportation

In the fourth quarter of 2021, 33 countries announced new low-carbon hydrogen plants, with projects in Australia, Chile and the US adding 3 million tonnes/year of capacity to the global hydrogen pipeline
